Eustis, Florida has a lot to offer, pocketed as it is in the center of the Sunshine State in the descriptively named Lake County. It’s a beautiful piece of the world and deserves caretaking. Radical thinking like this is largely behind the development of RubeLab, a grassroots collaborative effort to pool resources behind the development of innovative environmental technologies and applications.
The concept is straightforward enough. The world needs new ideas; new ways for us to trod across the landscape leaving fewer scars. Sustainable lifestyles that ensure we’re leaving a measure of beauty and opportunity for the generations stepping on our heels. Here in Lake County we have immediate access to the brains, experience, commitment and enthusiasm of a resident population of retirees, early-retirees, and counting-the-days-until-I-retirees with an accumulated gazillion years of creative and business expertise. We’ve got the Greatest Generation! And a lot of them are looking for something worthwhile to do.
RubeLab has been formed as a non-profit Innovation Incubator, designed to mine our communities for good ideas, and then marry those ideas together with the Design, Development, Marketing and Financial expertise needed to turn the best ideas into viable business opportunities which can become for-profit businesses in their own right here in our community.
The mission of RubeLab is…
To assist in the development of technologies that ameliorate local and global environmental problems; to serve as an economic catalyst for Eustis and the surrounding community by encouraging and assisting private enterprise in developing local, green-technology industries; and to serve as a vehicle for engaging the underutilized talents of skilled individuals residing in the area.

Very imaginative and great name! I might have to steal this idea and forward it to our local developers.
I would love to get involved in this new concept.
